Cathedral Rock
Monday morning 17th May, the car packed up, one last breaky at my favourite ‘Tuckshop’ cafe, and I was on my way to Armidale – finally. The trip is just 150km or so but as usual it took all day. Cathedral Rock was my first stop and I was a bit hesitant to do the 5.8km walk with Salsa locked in the car, but I have wanted to do this walk for 6 months. It was 10 degrees – very nice temp to walk, and it didn’t take long before I peeled off my jacket – the walk was a gruelling climb and quite dangerous to be doing on my own – the top was a rock climb rather than a bush walk.
There is so much to see along Waterfall Way, it just can’t be done in one day. The New England National Park was the next stop after my 3 hour rock climb (all my muscles are sore!). Beautiful views and walks but the clouds were in the way, I was tired, and it was getting late – I wanted to find my way to my Armidale country accommodation in daylight so I decided to drive back to see some more another day.
